IMMIGRATION & ASYLUM

UK immigration rules and practice are complex and constantly changing. We’ve assembled a strong team with real depth and breadth of experience that ensures the best advice is always available, for the full range of immigration and nationality issues, and no matter how difficult your case.

We are probably best-known for our often ground-breaking human rights and asylum work. We work for private and business clients, as well as with clients receiving legal aid. The department is highly respected and listed as such by Chambers & Partners.

We can advise on:
  • Work or business applications including work permits, EU/EEA residents permits, applications for the self-employed under the Europe Agreements, investors, innovators, artists, writers and musicians, and applicants under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme
  • Au pairs and domestic workers
  • Unmarried or same sex partners
  • Family members, including children, other dependants or spouses
  • Students
  • Visitors
  • Visa applications
  • Asylum and human rights cases, including ill-health and victims of domestic violence
  • Complex cases and applications outside the rules
  • British citizenship
  • Appeals (Advocacy by members of the department is available).

Independent Peer Review Report

The Legal Services Commission are increasingly commissioning independent peer review assessments of their contracted suppliers. Glazer Delmar’s Immigration Department was selected for a review in November 2005. The review was conducted by experienced and highly regarded immigration practitioners trained by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.

As a result of the review, received a rating of "excellence", which is the top categorisation, and only achieved currently by approximately 3% of LSC suppliers. The findings included:-

  • "The work on all files was of an exceptionally high standard".

  • "The work of ...each fee earner evidenced a high standard of client care, research skills, legal drafting skills and an impressive and up to date knowledge of all aspects of nationality, immigration and asylum and human rights law and practise."

  • "At all times the advisors were proactive in their communications with the Immigration Authorities, refusing to accept administrative delays and refusing to accept unclear or ambiguous communications from the Immigration Authorities in their correspondence. Advisors were keen to take the initiative to move cases forward without the need to be client led and were keen to explore creatively all possible options for the client."

  • "Communication with clients was tailored to each individual client with advice letters extremely detailed and concentrating on the particular facts of the case and written in a clear and concise manner that the particular client would be able to understand."

  • "The correspondence sent to clients was also personalised and showed that advisors were engaging in a professional but friendly manner with clients."
