Naturalisation/British Citizenship

British citizenship and nationality law is a very complex area. People often feel overwhelmed when faced with the variety of forms on offer and are uncertain if and how they qualify.

Although the requirements appear ‘set in stone’ there is in fact a large element of discretion that the UK Border Agency is able to exercise when considering applications. So, just because you think you don’t meet the requirements (for example you have been outside of the UK for more than 450 days) this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t apply. Let us advise you of the options available - discretion can be exercised and we have a history of successful applications. Let us consider all of the options available to you, and submit professional and persuasive representations with your application. Alternatively if yours is a straightforward application we can carry out a checking service for you.

The government is constantly considering this area of immigration law.

The government had planned to implement changes by way of introducing “earned citizenship” policy in July 2011 but in November 2010 the Home Secretary confirmed that such changes would not be introduced. She did, however, say that further announcements would be made.
