Divorce, nullity, and separationAt times of family breakdown you need effective but sympathetic advice. We can assist you with divorce and judicial separation, cohabitation disputes, and nullity (where a marriage did not exist, or was illegal). We even provide leaflets on the procedures involved so that you know what to expect.
Following divorce, parties often need help reaching a reasonable, amicable settlement over the matrimonial home. Should it be sold? How should the proceeds be divided? We can also help review both parties' assets, such as savings, capital, insurances and pensions. We can advise on whether it is reasonable for one party to pay maintenance to the other party, and for how long - and on children's maintenance payments. In some cases, urgent action may be required. For example, we can advise on how to prevent the sale of a property before an agreement has been reached, and can take rapid action if necessary. If you and your partner rent property together, we can advise how to get the tenancy transferred to one party or to advise the outgoing party of their rights to be re-housed by the local authority. We can also advise on and prepare separation deeds and pre-nuptial agreements. |
